Vedic Meditation

Vedic meditation comes from the Veda, an ancient body of knowledge that is over 5000 years old. In Sanskrit the word ‘Veda’ means knowledge. Other practices like yoga and Ayurveda all stem from this body of knowledge.

Vedic meditation is an ancient practice that has been used to experience and utilise the full spectrum of our awareness in daily life. It is a simple practice that utilises a mantra, which is a sound that when used correctly causes de-excitation of the nervous system, drawing our attention inwards, triggering deep relaxation, healing, release of stress and restoration of vitality. This simple yet powerful practice only requires 2-3% of your day.

Our natural state is always accessible to us but is often clouded by the stress and conditioning that sits just at the surface of our awareness. When we start to use the technique of Vedic Meditation, a gentle and natural process of releasing stored stress starts to take place, giving rise to a state that we call ‘Being’. As you practice for the prescribed 20 minutes twice each day, you start to stabilise this state of Being with your eyes open. You begin to approach life with a lot more clarity, resilience, ease and joy because there is no longer the flavour of stress clouding your perception and experience of life.

The mechanics of this practice are simple and require correct instruction by a qualified initiator of Vedic Meditation to ensure that you are practicing correctly. A teacher guides you to become a confident lifetime practitioner of Vedic Meditation.
